2026 LIONS CULTUS LAKE FISHING DERBY
The Derby
This is a fun Saturday event for the entire family and is part of BC’s Free Family Fishing Weekend so, provinical fishing licenses are not required. This is a perfect time to gather the family for fishing fun and community celebration. The boat launches will be open, or you can fish from the shore. Be sure to leave time to browse around Main Beach as there will be activities and displays too!
By entering the Derby, you’ll be helping to control the population of Pikeminnow, a resident predator of juvenile Sockeye salmon. Also detrimental to native species in the lake and surrounding watershed are Smallmouth Bass and Pumpkinseed Sunfish, both illegally introduced species.
- Derby Registration and Weigh-in at Main Beach, Cultus Lake, BC
- Targeted species are Pikeminnow, Smallmouth Bass and Pumpkinseed Sunfish. Please follow all BC sport fishing regulations!
- Derby runs Dawn to 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 20, 2026. Same day registration opens at 5:00 am, Main Beach
- Fish weigh-in starts at 12:00 noon and ends at 2:00 pm sharp.
- There will be free parking for “Registered Anglers” who arrive at the lot before 9:00 am. If someone leaves and comes back after 9:00, they must pay.
- Derby Tickets are $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for kids (age 15 and under).
- Tickets are available at Fred’s Custom Tackle in Abbotsford and Chilliwack, until June 19th. After that you can get them at the Main Beach on June 20th starting at 5:00 am, or from any Lions Club Members
Derby Prizes
Total of $2,500 in cash prizes split between Kids and Adults!
Adults:
- Largest and Most Pikeminnow
- Largest and Total Weight (max. 20) Smallmouth Bass
- Most Pumpkinseed Sunfish
Kids: 1st and 2nd each category for:
- Largest and Most Pikeminnow
- Largest and Most Smallmouth Bass (max. 20)
- Most Pumpkinseed Sunfish
Only one cash prize per registered angler.
Numerous draw prizes to be won as well, for all anglers registered prior to 11:00 am.
Winners must be present at weigh-in to claim prizes.
- Please use single barbless hooks
- Fish from the shore, the docks or by boat, if available
- Please help others by being friendly, sharing the space and, your knowledge
- Be careful and keep safe. Wear a life jacket!
- Keep the area clean and please do not leave any equipment or garbage behind.
