The goal of the Derby is not to eliminate Northern Pikeminnow, a native species, but rather to reduce the number of large fish.<\/p><p>Reducing the number of these larger predators can greatly large mouth.\u00a0 You can usually insert 2 to 3 fingers fully into an 11-inch Northern Pikeminnow\u2019s mouth.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element They prefer gravel with little aquatic vegetation and can be commonly found in sheltered areas under logs and docks. <\/span><\/p><p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-77d79e6 e-grid e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"77d79e6\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-199b6db elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"199b6db\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Smallmouth bass are predators, and feed on smaller fish, amphibians, and aquatic insects. They have been known to deplete waterways of smaller fish and are considered a serious threat to native animals in the waterways they inhabit, including juvenile salmon. Smallmouth bass are designated as a Management Species by the BC Provincial Priority Invasive Species
